I hear the pitter patter and whispers coming from the kitchen. I try to go back to sleep but know it’s not going to happen. Then I hear the excitement in their voices as they go about wanting to do something special for me. I hear the toaster… then the microwave and then “oh no that just spilt!” Then I hear them coming. I pretend that I am sleeping but I’ve already been blessed this morning by hearing their sweet conversations. “Mom,” Emma says. We have a surprise for you. I open my eyes and am thankful for the gift of my children in the act of serving me. I’m humbled and blown away. This is what I see.
Now to try to figure out a way to make them think I ate it all.
