True happiness is not attained through self-gratification, but through fidelity to a worthy purpose. – Helen Keller
My kids are experiencing some major self gratification this morning!
We are spending time in Orange Beach with Student Life. It’s been wonderful to be here. It’s always an honor. And we always feel so grateful that Student Life lets our family come along. Dave is here partnering with David Platt as they lead students this week. And Aaron Keyes is here leading worship so it just does not get much better than that! David opened the camp up and Dave is working on closing it down. I always love meeting new people and be encouraged by their journeys as our lives collide. I know many of you have read Platts book Radical. I tried to finish it before I came but am just halfway through it. It has presented some really good questions to reflect on as we make choices with our lives. It’s a great challenge. I also love running into people who’s family has adopted or are in the process of adopting. They have 2 boys, one that is adopted and they are in the process of adopting a little girl. It’s always encouraging to just be around families who have been built through adoption. I feel like I’m understood a bit better.
And Dave and I have been able to catch up this week with friends that we really don’t get to physically see very often. It’s always a cram session but it’s so good to be with people who know you and just start from the last time we had time together.
We just have a few days left so we are trying to pack them full. It’s been a really busy summer. Dave has been gone so much so I’m so thankful to be here with him this week with our family. The reality is hitting that it’s mid July. How did that happen.
Blessings Friends!
